Appointments
Appointments
When you contact the surgery, you will be offered the next available telephone appointment with a Clinician (GP or Practitioner). You may also be directed to complete an Engage Consult via our website or app.
If you are unable to wait for the next telephone appointment or cannot complete an Engage Consult yourself, our administration team can help by submitting a request on your behalf.
Important - If a clinician needs to contact you, the call will come from a 0300 number. Please ensure your phone is nearby, switched on and has a good signal.
Home visits
If you need a home visit, please contact the surgery on 01346 518088 before 10am. Requests received after this time may not be dealt with until the following working day. All requests are triaged by a clinician, who will contact you by phone to discuss your needs and decide on the most appropriate course of action. (Please note: not all requests will result in a home visit).
When to Request a Home Visit
We encourage patients to attend the surgery wherever possible, as we have the full range of equipment and facilities available here. Home visits are reserved for patients who are housebound or are suffering from a serious illness that prevents them from travelling to the surgery.
Home visits should not be requested simply because of transport difficulties. We advise that you ask a friend or family member for assistance, or alternatively, take public transport or taxi.
Important Information
- Clinicians do not routinely carry out home visits for children.
- A visit will only be made if a clinician feels our medical condition requires it. They will also determine how urgently a visit is needed.
- A single home visit can take the same amount of time as seeing four or five patients in the surgery. For this reason, we ask for your understanding when visits are declined in favour of surgery based care.
- If you have recently had a baby, or you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under 5 years old, a health visitor should provide home visits.
- You may also receive home visits from a community nurse if you are referred by your GP.
Video Consultation
NHS Near Me Video Appointments
This practice offers video consultations through NHS Near Me, powered by the Attend Anywhere system.
NHS Near Me is a secure video service that allows you to attend your appointment from the comfort of your home, workplace or anywhere convenient, using a computer, smartphone or tablet.
To use this service you must have a booked video appointment with the practice. Your clinician or booking staff will be able to advise you if a video consultation is suitable for your needs.
Before Your Appointment
We recommed testing your device before your appointment to ensure it works correctly. Click the Start Video Call button below to join your consultation or run a test call. The test call will check your internet connection, camera, microphone and speakers (no one else will see or hear you during the test).
Please use Google Chrome on Windows or Android devices, or Safari on Apple devices.
Cancelling or Arriving Late for Your Appointment
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact the surgery as soon as possible. This allows us to offer the appointment slot to another patient.
If you arrive late, your clinician may not be able to see you and you may be asked to book another appointment.
